Things You Need to Know  Before Going on a Boat Hire around Sydney

As Australia slowly opens up and more people gather in social settings, now’s the perfect time to plan a celebration. And what better way to gather friends, family or co-workers than aboard a private party boat.

Charter Boat Sydney, a premier party boat rental company in Sydney, offers a few tips on how you can ensure that your private party on a boat goes as smoothly as possible.

Tip #1: Create your guest list

The first thing you need to determine is your guest list. Keep in mind that boats and yachts have a maximum number of allowable guests on board for safety reasons. A hotel ballroom or restaurant can accommodate a few extra guests, but when you hire a party boat rental, you’re locked in.

When you create your guest list, you should also keep in mind the number of staff you’re going to need on board. Are you planning to get your event catered? Will you need entertainment? The more accurate the number, the better idea you’ll have about what type of boat to charter.

Tip #2: Plan in advance

Most boat party planners advise that you plan a party on a boat at least three months in advance. Of course, the earlier you start prepping, the better. Boat hire can have different rates for weekends, weekdays and even holidays.

Give yourself enough time to study the best dates for your boat party. Take into consideration peak rates as well as weather conditions. While you can expect mostly sunny skies in Sydney, you could get sudden, unexpected rain showers or thunderstorms. Rain won’t generally stop your party from going on, but if it is a concern, you might want to hire a boat with covered areas where your guests can rest comfortably.

Tip #3: Choose the right craft

Most boat hire companies have quite a few vessels you can choose from. These could include:

  • Pontoons – Most would agree that this vessel makes the best party boat. Its layout is conducive for mid-sized parties of about 30 or so guests without feeling like your crammed into a tight space.
  • Catamarans – If your party is a smaller affair, this could be the boat for you. While our catamarans can take up to 37 people, it’s probably best for a smaller group of 20 to 25. This way, you can ensure that each guest has a great time.
  • Luxury boats – Celebrating a momentous occasion at your company? Or perhaps you’d like to impress your shareholders. Partying aboard a luxury boat that can take on anywhere from 20 people to 100 or so guests is what you should be looking for.

Tip #4:  Consider your entertainment

The other thing you’ll want to consider when choosing your vessel is the type of entertainment you’re looking to book. If you want a DJ, for example, catamarans definitely don’t have the space for it. Luxury boats and pontoons, on the other hand, can have a DJ booth and a dance floor, not to mention space for buffets.

Tip #5:  Factor in your food and beverage consumption

Part of the things you’ll want to plan out in advance is what type of food and beverage you’ll be serving aboard your boat. And the best way to do this is by talking to a boat rental company. Some companies offer full catering while others might just offer an esky and a few tables onboard.

Other boat charters also do BYO food and beverage, but they might still have certain restrictions. For example, you need to find out what their policies are for bringing liquor on board.

Tip #6: Plan your activities

The best thing about doing a party on a boat is that you’re not relegated to traditional games you’d encounter at any party. Depending on the type of party you’re planning, you could enjoy a few other activities:

  • Lounging on the beach
  • Kayaking
  • Snorkelling
  • Whale-watching
  • Wakeboarding
  • Swimming

You should also plan your boarding and drop-off point, as these could also determine the types of activities you could enjoy.

Tip #7: Enjoy the occasion

Perhaps the most important tip of all is to prepare to have fun! You’ve done all the preparing for the party itself, but make sure you also plan on enjoying the party. It’s easy to get caught up in all the details of the planning that you might forget to make a to-do list for yourself.

Once you’ve got all your activities planned, determine which ones you want to participate in and make sure you have the help you need on the day of the party so you can enjoy it fully.
